The short version. Learn Albanian has no accounts and no sign-up. Your learning progress stays on your phone. Nothing you do in the app is sold, and there is no advertising or tracking.
The one exception is the AI tutor: to reply to you, your messages have to leave your phone. How that works is set out below.
Learn Albanian is made and run by Brijon Grisha, an independent developer based in the United Kingdom. For anything in this policy, contact learnalbanianofficial@gmail.com.
Your progress through the units, your streak, your flashcard history and your settings are stored in the app's own storage on your device. They are not uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app deletes them.
This is the only part of the app that sends anything you write off your device.
When you send a message in the Practice tab, the app sends the following to a server I operate:
My server forwards the conversation to Anthropic, which runs the Claude model that writes the reply, and sends the reply back to your phone. Anthropic processes the text to generate that reply. Anthropic does not use it to train its models.
My server keeps a count of how many messages each anonymous identifier has sent per day, so the daily limit works. It does not store the content of your conversations. The conversation itself lives only on your phone, and clearing it in the app removes it.
Please don't type anything sensitive into the tutor — real names, addresses, health details, financial information. It's a practice partner, not a private notebook.
Payments are handled entirely by Apple. I never see your card details, billing address or Apple Account email.
To know whether you've unlocked the course or have an active subscription, the app uses RevenueCat. RevenueCat assigns your installation a random anonymous identifier and records which products you've bought and whether a subscription is active. It is not linked to your name or email.
If you turn on reminders, they are scheduled on your phone by iOS. Nothing is sent through a server and no notification data reaches me.
The app is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages, but it isn't aimed at children under 13 and I don't knowingly collect anything from them. Since there are no accounts, the app has no way of identifying a user's age.
Because the app has no accounts, I hold almost nothing that could identify you. If you want the usage counter tied to your anonymous identifier deleted, email me and I'll remove it. You can find your identifier by contacting me from the device in question and I'll explain how to read it.
If you're in the UK or EU, you have rights under the UK GDPR and GDPR to access, correct or erase personal data, and to complain to your data protection authority. In the UK that's the Information Commissioner's Office.
My server runs on Google Cloud. Anthropic and RevenueCat process data in the United States. Where personal data leaves the UK or EU, those transfers rely on the safeguards each provider has in place.
If the app starts collecting something new, I'll update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
